He will brief you about the trip before starting a road transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest or Mgahinga National Park going through Cyanika border post in Kisoro district. Alternatively, if you are already in Kigali, the driver will find you at your hotel to transfer to Uganda. Uganda has two gorilla national parks including Bwindi and Mgahinga, so when you make a gorilla tour booking, you will visit any of the parks depending on the gorilla permit availability. Detailed Safari Itinerary for 2 Day Uganda Gorilla Trekking
Day 1: Arrival or Pickup from Kigali in Rwanda, transfer to Uganda
When you arrive at Kigali International Airport, our driver guide will be available to welcome you and then drive to Uganda where you would be doing a gorilla trek the next day. Take and enjoy a 4-hour drive with spectacular views of the Virunga Volcanoes, the rolling hills of Rwanda and the beautiful Kigezi region green countryside. Once in Kisoro town, take the direction of Rushaga sector found in the southern section of the great Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Note that when you book a 2 day Uganda gorilla tour that begins from Kigali, you will be in position to trek gorillas in Rushaga, Nkuringo or Ruhija sectors of Bwindi. You may also visit gorillas in Mgahinga National Park if that is where there is gorilla permit availability for your trekking date. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Safari Lodge, Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge, Rushaga Gorilla Camp, or Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge on full board.
Day 2: Uganda Gorilla Trekking, return to Kigali
Have breakfast, check out of the lodge with your packed lunch to transfer to the park headquarters in Rushaga for a pre gorilla tracking briefing. Rushaga is the region in Bwindi with the biggest number of gorilla families. While at the briefing yard, every 8 people will be allocated a gorilla family for trekking. You will then disperse to each group’s starting point and then begin the hike into the forest to the most admired gorillas in Uganda. This trek may take a shorter or longer time given the location of the gorillas on this day. Upon finding the gorillas, you will have one full hour stay with them as you enjoy their man-like characters, take pictures and videos as you are thrilled by this experience that happens once in a lifetime. After the gorilla encounter, walk back to your vehicles and drive to the park offices to pick your gorilla trekking certificate. You will then start your road journey back to Kigali. The driver will drop you at the airport or hotel in case you still have more time in Rwanda.
