Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park
After breakfast you will transfer from Kigali to Akagera National Park which is on the north-eastern part of Rwanda near the Tanzania boarder. On arrival you will have lunch and relax at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 2: Rwanda Wildlife Safaris (Morning game drive in the park)
Begin the day with a Rwanda Safari in form of game drive in the park after a delicious breakfast. During the game drive you will see animals like the Bush buck, Eland, Impala, Oribi and Topi, Buffalo, Olive Baboons, Giraffe, Vervet monkeys, Zebra, Hyenas, Leopards, Lions elephant, hyena and black rhino. These animal species define much of Rwanda’s wildlife Safaris as this is the only park in the country where game viewing safaris are done from. Return to the lodge for lunch. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast you will transfer to Volcanoes national park. The drive takes about 6 hours. You will go back to Kigali and then connect to the gorilla park in Rwanda. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 4: Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Tour
You will have breakfast at the lodge and then after go for a briefing at the park head quarters, and then set of for a gorilla trekking safari in the forest. This may take one to 8 hours depending on the movement of the mountain gorillas. When you bump into the gorillas you will be allowed one hour to be with them. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Dianne Fossey Trekking or Golden Monkey Tracking
On this day after breakfast, you have two options, either to choose gorilla for a Dian Fossey hiking or Golden Monkey trekking. what you decide on is what you go for. Dian Fossey’s grave are nestled between the beautiful volcanic peaks of Karisimbi and Bishoke. After trekking have a brief excursion to the spectacular panoramic views of the Twin Lakes; Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo and the Virunga mountain chain. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 6: Transfer to Butare
After breakfast drive to Butare, visit the King’s palace in Nyanza, the national museum in Butare, the genocide memorial site and many other interesting places. Dinner and overnight at the lodge in Butare
Day 7: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest, the habitat for chimpanzees in Rwanda
After breakfast you will drive to Nyungwe Forest, you will have lunch and relax the rest of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 8: Chimpanzee Tracking in Rwanda
After breakfast you will go for a chimpanzee tracking Safari in Nyungwe Forest. During tracking you will spot other primates like the Ruwenzori colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys, Mountain monkeys, Angolan black, colobus monkeys, Owl-faced Monkey, Mona Monkey, Blue Monkey, Golden Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Vervet Monkey and Olive Baboons among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge
Day 9: Departure
Breakfast and transfer to Kigali, have an afternoon lunch, visit the genocide memorial site and later transfer to the airport for your departure flight. This marks the end of a nine-day Rwanda Gorilla Tour and Safari, full of interesting moments.
